Nebuzaradan
also known as: Nebuzar-adan
Meaning: the god Nebo (Nabu) has given offspring
He was the captain of King Nebuchadnezzar’s bodyguard.
Eventually, this important officer ranked next to King Nebuchadnezzar. He appears prominent in directing affairs at the capture of Jerusalem (2 Kings 25:8-20; Jer. 39:11; 40:2-5).
He showed kindness to Jeremiah, as commanded by Nebuchadnezzar (40:1).
5 years after this, he again came to Jerusalem and carried away 745 more Jews into captivity.
