Exposed to Sex at an Early Age

—by “Juls” (Female), age 22

Stereotypically, it has always been thought that guys are the ones who have to fight with pornography and masturbation. Any ladies who have these addictions are thought to be either liberal, horny or anything along those lines.

Well, I am a lady and I struggle with these. I was sexually molested and was exposed to sex at an early age. I had masturbated out of curiosity because I read about it in an article. Started and hasn’t stopped since. To worsen the addiction, I managed to find pornographic materials and videos around the house. And now there’s the Internet.

Making a personal covenant (like Job did) has made it harder for me to do anything without feeling intense remorse…

Ever since I was saved, I cannot say that I’m completely innocent of it. But making a personal covenant (like Job did) has made it harder for me to do anything without feeling intense remorse and guilt.

“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at (anyone).” —Job 31:1

It’s easy for me to make a gesture of repenting and then repeating the same thing over and over again. So I am trying not to fall into that trap. I avoid the temptation to go on the net unnecessarily. When I’m bored, I try to think of other things.

Just wanted to write to let others out there know that it’s not easy but not impossible. After all God did say that he would not tempt you beyond what you can bear.

Hope this help. God bless all of you.
