Show Synopsis: Focuses on the lives of several teens from Roswell, NM who are part alien, part human.

Living among the citizens of the infamous New Mexico city of Roswell are some who are not there by choice. They are there to follow a destiny given to them by the members of their dying race, a race that they are someday destined to save. This is the background behind the WB series “Roswell.” Max Evans, Isabel Evans and Michael Guerin are teenage humans with extraordinary gifts - gifts that are “not-of-this-earth.” They are human/alien hybrids, sent here to complete their destiny. Their counterparts have already perished in a war of attrition, thus one day, they will return to their home planet and save their race.

Before a fateful day in 1999, the teens hid their gifts. The event that forever changed their lives was when Max healed Liz Parker (a classmate) after she was fatally shot in the stomach in a dispute between two customers at the restaurant where she waitresses. A close relationship then develops between Max and Liz. Central to the first season were the relationships between the hybrids and their human companions. That focus has shifted during the drama's second season. "Roswell" is now distinctly a science-fiction show built on the relationships between humans and aliens.

The series is based on the Roswell High young adult book series, written by Melinda Metz and edited by Laura J. Burns, who later became staff writers for the television series.

viewer comments…
Avoid—This program was being watched by my Granddaughter until I thought I better see what it is all about. It depicts alien teenagers that are trying hard to have the same physical feelings as Earthlings. It shows teens in sensual clothing making sensual moves towards the opposite sex. It has an outward message that is telling teens it is perfectly normal to have physical relationships outside of marriage and are using the theme of aliens to promote it. I definitely would rate this “A” to be avoided by parents.

Usually Okay—A very entertaining and involving show. I might watch it first before watching it with a child under 10, but otherwise, just be there with them. I will warn you about three episodes "The White Room" In which a major character is tortured and a man is shot. “Destiny” in which a few people are killed and "The Convention" in which another man is shot. These are not even as bad as they sound, but I would not suggest them for children under 10.

Usually Okay—This show is almost always full of interesting, amusing notions about teens living among us from another planet, and how they got here. This show is mostly innocent and entertaining…it's the same as any Star Trek series, but with a slight Teen mellow-drama and very slight sexual content. Mostly this is an ok show for anyone that likes shows on the WB, and enjoy a little Sci-Fi now and then. I'd recommend it for kids 12 - Adult. This shows always has a little bit of "not-so-scary" violence with a bit of blood, and maybe a d*m or h*ll here and there, once and a while. Do use a little caution when a younger brother or sister, son or daughter is in the room.

Caution—I personally love this show… I got hooked last season. However, this season its getting pretty bad. I will switch the channel when they get into stuff I know I shouldn't be watching and I'm getting tired of it. The WB shows are pretty much based on teenagers and their relationships which can lead to some bad stuff… Even though I love this show, I wouldn't let someone young watch this show because of some of the things in it.

Usually Okay—I'm a regular watcher of this show, and it's not as bad as it seems. The show is very in depth. The show follows the lives of three teen aliens in Roswell. It involves a lot of issues, like child abuse, and whether or not they believe in God. About the sex thing. It is not saying that sex is okay for teens! One of the rules that the aliens made up was NOT to get involved with humans. One ep. Deals with one of the aliens going to his human friend in the middle of the night, because of a bad run in with his abusive foster father, and how they spend the night with each other. And they don't do anything! And how the next morning the mother of the human girl comes in and thinks something has happened, even their friends for awhile don't believe them. The show is more about them not wanting to have these feelings! Yes, I do agree that children younger then 10 should not watch this show though. But it is an overall good show for teens and adults.

Usually Okay—I think that this show is not near the best Christian content show, but it a very good alternative for any teen. Most [episodes] are very entertaining and show good movies.
