The American Embassy

Moral Rating: Caution
Primary Audience: Teen to Adult
Genre: Drama
Length: 1 hr.
Starring: Arija Bareikis, David Cubitt, Jonathan Cake, Jonathan Adams, Nicholas Irons, Davenia McFadden, Helen Carey, Michael Cerveris, Reiko Aylesworth

Show Synopsis: Arija Bareikis stars as Emma Brody, an Ohio native who accepts a position to work as a vice consul at the United States Embassy in London. "The American Embassy" is a one-hour drama from Fox network airing after the popular "Boston Public".

The premier episode follows Emma on the plane en route to London, where she meets CIA operative Doug Roach (David Cubitt) and gets put into an uncomfortable position with him. He is a regular on the show and it's obvious a mutual friendship will grow between the two. Emma explains her new life in London via email (voice over) to her sister. Technically this show is very high quality, as is expected. However, the first episode contains mature, adult themes and is not for younger audiences: an American from Portland comes to the embassy and strips naked to try to get a ticket back home, Emma's flatmate (another American embassy worker) is morally awry and has a different guy over every night, Emma's British neighbor is a cross dresser (though very friendly and helpful to his new American neighbor, Emma), etc.

viewer comments…
Usually Okay—I find that the show is very thought provoking and make me think about, how good we have it as americans and our values. It also, show just how off track we can be as a nation.
