“Never leave your partner behind”

You are about to embark on a life changing experience when you view this incredible film. The quality of this story is simply amazing, especially in a spiritual and moral sense. And yet, it is edge-of-your-seat entertainment. You will engage intense drama, nail biting excitement, plot and subplot, romance and fear. One moment you will be laughing and the next trying not to cry. Kids will cheer, and adults will check their racing hearts. It is so real, so true, and will relate to everyone in many ways.

“Fireproof” is a story of true love, hope and salvation in a day when marriages are marked with infidelity, lack of commitment and selfishness. As we cheer fireman Captain Caleb Holt into burning buildings and runaway disasters, he and his wife, human relations director Catherine Holt, struggle with ordinary everyday marital issues. Bank accounts, dry cleaning, shopping and doing the dishes become small sparks that result in a devastating fire to their hearts and souls. While Caleb enjoys the role of community hero and somewhat of a savior, he finds it impossible to contain the inferno of his own marriage. Catherine sees no hero here, but rather finds him disappointing as husband, provider, and friend.

As the movie progresses, we continue to enjoy the excitement of Caleb’s job as fire chief. Fires are fought, people are saved and heroes receive their accolades. But the fire at home rages on. As the couple conclude that their marriage is a mistake and that their personal lives offer so much more excitement than their married life, in steps Caleb’s father. Himself a

to a damaged marriage in the past, he offers his son a challenge and a gift just prior to the divorce papers being signed. His simple request: would his son take a 40 day challenge before Caleb inks those fateful documents. As a favor to his dad, Caleb complies and begins a venture into what a true husband and hero really are. And on this journey, he finds an even greater Gift—and Love than he knew existed. As this self-centered hero becomes a selfless servant, his wife warms to the Gift Caleb has received and begins her own spiritual awakening.

The struggles that this marriage encounter are contemporary issues that hold some truth in all of our lives and might even hit a little too close to home. While sin is dealt with at face value, I appreciated the producers ability to demonstrate it without sucking us in. It might sound a little odd, but these sin issues were tastefully and respectfully addressed. I might want to relate to sin that someone else is dealing with, but I don’t want to fall into it or have it become a struggle simply by watching a movie about it. It is painfully clear that Captain Holt struggles with many sin issues. His marriage suffers for it, and we cringe as we see him fall prey to it. But I did not feel that the movie itself was a carrier for this temptation. There was no need to close my eyes or feel ashamed to have my wife (or Jesus for that matter) sitting next to me.

In the same way, Catherine Holt is tempted and then seduced by a sin issue. Again, we are not drawn into it or given such gory details that we feel like we have become a part of it. I have yet to see the effectiveness of this thematic detail accomplished so well as in “Fireproof.” It allows me to fully recommend adults viewing this film without shuddering as to how they will deal with it. In the end, I certainly did find myself praying against the prowling adversary that plagues us all (I Peter 5:8,9). Thank you Alex and Stephen Kendrick (producer/writers/actor) for taking such care in producing this film.

There, of course, will be critics. I’m sure the focus will be on the actors and their ability to turn in Oscar® winning performances. Here is what I can really appreciate about his movie. It balances on the story and the subtle but powerful message of hope in Christ. In these days of multi-million dollar actors and actresses, “Fireproof” does not rely on them to carry this story. With Kirk Cameron as the only recognized professional actor, the characters become humble bearers of this wonderful story. Undoubtedly, they will receive the praises of their Heavenly Father without need for the fickle and fleeting kudos of an Oscar’s committee.

“Fireproof” has deep adult issues that it deals with. Having said that, I believe that it would be beneficial to take your teens. The adult issues are ones that you can talk through with them and learn some excellent life lessons that should not be ignored. “Fireproof” is a great opportunity to dialogue concerning sin issues and the good news of salvation. While your kids under 12 would enjoy the heart-pounding excitement of “Fireproof,” you would need to evaluate whether they are mature enough to discuss divorce, marital conflict and sin issues.

For those of you that pick up every detail, watch for the unusual stunt double scene at the end of the story. If you can find the mystery actor, it will reveal the amazing care, authenticity and integrity that was put into the making of this movie.

If you want to see a movie that will tug at your heart and could possibly change your life and marriage, you must see this film. We loved it and are excited to tell our friends. In fact, we aren’t waiting for the DVD. We’re going to take as many people as we can and see it on the big screen again.

Thank you Sherwood films. You’ve done it again (“Flywheel,” “Facing the Giants”). What an amazing movie. What a powerful tool. What an exciting ride.

Positive—My wife and I just finished watching this movie, and we feel that is one of the best movies we have seen this year. It has action, humor, and drama throughout the movie. We have not seen a movie of this caliber in a long time. We recommend that everyone see this one.

Positive—I watched this film with my husband and 3 of my children. One teen and 2 younger. All of us liked the film. I especially liked the fact that it dealt with real life issues. It clearly showed that Jesus is the answer, and that when we do things his way we will be blessed. I would totally recommend this film.

Positive—A wonderful film. Went to the evening performance with my wife and two teenagers and was very surprised to find it “SOLD OUT,” so went back this morning early and thoroughly enjoyed this God-respecting, Christ-honoring, marriage-building movie. Such a beautiful story line and very well made. Some great acting, cinematography, lighting, suspense and humor. Some of the actors were obviously professionals and others maybe acting for the first time, but it was all held together with heart, passion and some nice music from bands like Third Day, and singers like Mark Hall of Casting Crowns. Go see it and take your friends and your entire church.

Positive—Wow, can I say that, will that explain how much I liked it and what it meant to me? No, let explain. They hit the mark; the marriage mark, the relationship mark, the christian mark, the what movies should be about mark. This movie is everything I was hoping it would be, and that's a lot. Everyman in this nation needs to see this movie. After saying that to a friend, he said, after seeing the movie, “Now if I can just get my wife to see it.” We are hurting, and this movie is like a balm of ointment that can heal. Kirk, you did a good job on this movie. God helped make this movie, and I'm glad they gave Him credit, and by the way, read the credits, it's really neat to see the catering names, way to go you guys, keep up the God work.

Positive—I was very excited to see this movie and support another Christian film! I was not disappointed at all! I have loved Kirk Cameron since his “Growing Pains” days and have also followed his career as he has produced “The Way of the Master.” The movie was very well done I felt. The characters were believable and their struggles were very real. It was hard to watch at times because the marital struggles were so real and hit close to home, however I am so very glad that I watched it with my husband by my side! We both knew the reality of their struggles were ones we had dealt with and only gained victory through Christ as well.
I was very impressed with all the topics that the film addressed, respect of your spouse, pornography, adultery, honoring your parents, having no other Gods, etc… This will really touch all people on some level and be very convicting. I also loved the fact that Kirk retained his integrity by “secretly” kissing his wife Chelsea in the finale scene. Way to go Kirk!

I recommend this movie to every one who is married now or aspires to be someday! You will take something from it to apply to your marriage, I am sure!

Terri, age 44
Positive—I just returned from viewing this movie with my mother and children. This movie was fantastic. I loved the idea of a movie that reminds us that marriage is a lifetime commitment. The acting and film quality were not always the best but the views expressed and impression that it left on its viewers made these small things easy to overlook. Marriage and divorce are difficult subjects that people are often willing to overlook. Divorce has become common place in our society and to have a movie that speaks contrary is incredible! Not only was the message of this movie fantastic but there was just enough comedy and excitement to appeal to all movie lovers. In fact, there were times where I had to tell my 10-year-old to stop laughing so loud as the funny parts are extremely entertaining.

I recommend this movie to married couples, or singles, or anyone who wants to appreciate God's perfect plan for marriage. Take note of the significance that the wedding ring played in this film and realize what an amazing symbol that ring can be. And also realize that this is not a lone story in our world but there are people out there who everyday continue to wear a wedding ring even for marriages that have “burned to the ground” waiting on the restoration that only a faith in God can provide! This is a must see movie for everyone!

Positive—We drove about 60 miles to see this on its opening weekend and oh was it worth it! This movie has laughter, tears and the audience actually applauded at the end. This movie has so much to offer. There are no scenes that are even slightly offensive. Yes, Caleb has an issue with porn but it is never revealed with any views into his computer. Even for those who consider their marriage a good one, this movie will challenge spouses to be more of a blessing to their mate. The revelation that true love can only come from a person who has accepted the love of Jesus Christ is awesome.

Positive—This was the best movie! I would highly recommend it. It showed the only way we can truly love someone else is when we come to know the love of Jesus Christ and His redeeming love. So thankful that we could go to a movie and come out feeling good. Please Hollywood, would you wake up to the fact that this is what we want to see. I usually don't see movies more than once, but I would see this one again.

Positive—I just saw Fireproof, and man, I LOVED IT!!! It was one of the best movies I've ever seen!!!… The message you leave the theater with is so great!!! It was better than any marriage sermon I've ever heard!! I laughed throughout the film, I loved all the action scenes, all the acting was fantastic, and don't tell anyone, but I even got a little misty a few times. And, the fact that the movie doubled as evangelistic, with a great gospel presentation, nearly made me swoon. This movie was simply incredible!!!

Positive—We just saw the movie tonight. We loved it from beginning to end.
My husband and I can't wait to go to church in the morning and

for everyone involved in making this movie and will be praying
that it spreads through the movie theatres across this nation.
God Bless You.

Positive—My wife and I went with our church group to see this movie. We all thought it was wonderful. It was very funny in parts, and yet it dealt so well with the issues and struggles we face in marriage. I thought the reactions from people who were confronted with different issues were right on, especially the yelling and beating up of certain household items. The Gospel message was also very present and clear which, as an evangelist, I truly love and appreciate. I cannot recommend this movie enough for anyone who is married or even considering getting married. You will not be disappointed.

Positive—This movie far exceeded my expectations with a great plot and great acting. I needed to use the restroom about halfway through but was so engaged in the movie that I waited until the movie was over—make sure you use the restroom before the movie. If you have been looking for a good film to give you a reason to go to the movies again, this is it. Get to the theatre and support this movie and sherwood pictures. Let them know that we want more great films like Fireproof on the big screen.

Christine, age 41
Positive—My wife and I went and saw Fireproof last night and were both thoroughly blown away by it! I work in the emergency field and so was drawn to the movie by that aspect of it, and as my wife and I sat and watched it, we felt so many similarities to things we experience (though I can thankfully say God has been blessing our marriage greatly so far). Also, I am so thankful that this film openly addressed the destructive nature of pornography in a marriage. This is something I had struggled with for over a decade until I had a similar experience to the character Caleb in which I had to choose to serve God or my addiction and destroyed my computer. As a whole, this movie was nothing but encouraging and affirming of the truth that no matter how good of a person we may be, or on the flip side, how horrible we treat even those that love us, we have no hope other than Christ, yet He is hope enough to completely free us from our sin and give us eternal life.

I would recommend inviting everyone you know to this movie. Divorce is something we can all relate to somehow, and I don't think there will be a single person who sees this film who won't be moved by it, and it presents the Good news of Jesus Christ in such a tangible way that even the hardest of unbelievers will be unable to walk away without giving thought to their own need for a Savour.

Positive—Going to see “Fireproof” on opening night was my birthday present from my husband. I have been so excited for another wonderful movie from Sherwood Pictures to be on the big screen! The movie was excellent! We laughed, cried, and just thoroughly enjoyed it. I encourage married couples to see it with their spouses. Even if you have a good, strong marriage, it will serve as a conversation starter about your own relationship with your spouse and with the Lord. The movie was a blessing to us, and I am so thankful to the Kendrick brothers for making every effort to honor the Lord through the work of their hands. Once the DVD is out, we are planning on showing it and doing the follow up study with our church group.

Don't miss this movie!

Positive—This is an awesome movie for any married couple! My husband and I went to see it on opening night and the movie was packed! This movie is so uplifting and honestly shares the struggles that men and women face individually and in their relationships with their spouse. It was so awesome to go and see such an awesome christian movie. The movie was not only encouraging and truthful but it also had parts of the movie that were hilarious! The funny parts had everyone in the theatre laughing!! The movie made several references to God and Jesus Christ. If your thinking about taking your spouse to see it, stop thinking and GO SEE IT! You and your marriage will definitely leave the theatre blessed!!

Evalani Moultrie, age 26
Positive—It is so nice to be entertained by a movie without being concerned about foul language, sexual innuendos, and other inappropriate content. It was filled with action, romance, and comedy that made it appealing to a varied audience. Kirk Cameron’s portrayal of “Caleb” was convincing and worth “Hollywood's” recognition as well done. The subjects addressed in the movie, such as pornography and marital problems, were presented and addressed with great forethought, and obviously, prayer. To everyone who worked on this film, thank you for not only entertaining us, but also for showing the world what a difference Christ can make in people's lives. By the way, when the movie was over, the audience responded in applause. There aren't many movies like that anymore!

Positive—This movie is a TRUE blessing from God!

Do not wait to see this movie! GO OUT AND SEE IT TODAY!

Fireproof packs such an emotional punch that your stomach will feel like you've been riding a roller coaster for two hours. The movie carries several messages that any of us can learn from. I enjoyed it so much that I saw it twice on two days! This is an independent film with most of the actors being volunteers so not everyone is spot on. However, I think all of the actors did a great job. Kirk Cameron was especially good in his performance and was able to convey some very touching emotions. Leave it to the Kendrick brothers to hit you hard with raw emotion only to quickly pick you back up with a hefty doses of humor. This movie is funny. Sounds strange with such a serious topic as divorce, but there is a lot of humor in this film that saves this movie from being one big cry fest.

Trust me, this is one of the funniest movies I have seen in years. It only proves that you don't need gross out humor to get laughs. There's something for everyone in this movie. I gave it the highest rating. PLEASE don't miss out. Watch through the film for various people who appear in “Flywheel” and “Facing the Giants.” Pay special attention to the tag on Caleb's truck and the names of the stores on the sign marquee. Also check out the name on Caleb's baseball bat. There are quite a few references in this movie.

Bring a friend or two or three to this movie! I'd just suggest leaving the kids home because of the subject matter. Teens will do okay, but younger kids will be left asking questions.

Positive—If want a synopsis of the movie and its plot, then read the main review above—my review is very simply a recommendation to GO SEE IT! I would confidently recommend this movie to anyone (best for teenager and above—but not a problem for those younger). It theme will hit home with married couples but will also help singles and even teenagers who need to be shown a great example of what true love is all about.

The grip that Hollywood has had on defining love has been broken with this movie. One of the few times that I have left a movie and didn't feel like I had to apologize or make excuses for certain scenes or make exceptions to my moral standards. The goal of this movie is not to make money—not to simply entertain you—but to give you a taste of what God's love is like and make you hungry for that kind of love and relationship. In that regard, this movie hits a home run. I paid $10 to see it and the impact it had on my life is worth millions—another ironic twist—the makers of this movie are clearly in this to be a blessing to others—not to reap a blessing of money or fame. Few in Hollywood will understand this concept. I feel very comfortable saying that you should see this movie.

Positive—I am so grateful for this film! I am so proud of the Kindrick Brothers for making a film that is based on sound, Biblical-principles without any form of compromise, for making a film that reaches deep into the hearts of all people, whether they are followers of Jesus or not, and that they have given us a quality tool for reaching out to others who may be struggling in their marriage. I love that they have chosen to address the issue of marriage, particularly in a time that the world is placing so much of the spotlight on relationships that are sinful in the eyes of God. I can't thank enough the people who made this movie!!! Thank you!

Positive—Our whole family was looking forward to seeing FIREPROOF since we're all Kirk Cameron fans. The opening day, September 26, just happened to be the day after our 20th wedding anniversary. We were celebrating the occasion by taking a road trip to show the kids a few of our honeymoon places—San Francisco, Point Reyes, and Yosemite. We wanted to go to a FIREPROOF matinee on the first day it was released, but we were 600 miles from home in a town we had never been to before. A nice helpful lady at the Merced Visitor's Center directed us to a cinema on Main Street in downtown Merced, California that was showing FIREPROOF. What a great anniversary present!

We and our three boys—ages 18, 13, and 8—all loved the movie. It had enough excitement, humor, and drama to satisfy everyone. It's wonderful to see a movie of this caliber hit the mainstream without all of the offensive stuff that is so prevalent in movies today. FIREPROOF raised the standards of morality on the big screen.

The fact that the movie included a wonderful gospel presentation made it even better! I especially liked the ending when they renewed their vows with a covenant marriage ceremony. That's exactly what we did for our 10th wedding anniversary. The institute of marriage is magical. It's a gift from God that's meant to withstand the hardest of times. It can be a challenge, but bad times don't last forever. Just leave the word divorce out of your vocabulary and put some effort into upholding a long-term commitment, and the value your whole family receives will be well worth it.

Positive—There is nothing but excellent things to say about this movie. I do not want to give too much details because I think it might give it away, but this movie is about two good people that end up not seeing eye to eye to the point where they are the brink of divorce. Then, the husband's dad asks his son for a favor. The rest of the movie is around the steps the husband takes with his father's request.

I enjoyed this movie immensely. The movie dealt with issues that any and every couple in the US could have. It truly shows how if we do not have the Lord what road we could go down. I loved the acting because I truly felt the wife's pain towards her husband. I also cried the last thirty minutes of the movie. This movie made me laugh one minute and cry the next minute. It was so worth every penny to see this in the movie theater.

I just want to say that this is not just some message. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ. This movie is an excellent opportunity to minister to people that you might know who are struggling in their marriage. Don't forget to bring lots of tissues when you see this movie.

Positive—Wonderful movie! Husband and I, two grown children, and our teenage daughter, went to see this movie last night. We laughed and cried! A movie for anyone who really needs a lift and the truth revealed in their life(which is all of us)! In a world that has not much respect for family values anymore, this is a keeper. We are missing what true riches are, family! And this film delivers. Thanks to the people from cast to crew who made this movie, we need more of them.

Positive—We couldn't wait for this movie to come out after viewing Flywheel and Facing the Giants. WOW!! Each production by Sherwood just keeps getting better and better! How refreshing to take your family to a truly family-friendly movie that portrays Christian morals.
This movie was incredible in that it unashamedly presented the Gospel of Christ.

There are few movies I have ever seen in large theaters where people clap at the conclusion of a movie but in Facing the Giants and Fireproof, everyone clapped at the end.

The overriding theme in this movie is forgiveness. It spoke to me personally and will be a tremendous blessing to everyone who sees it.

Positive—Real life issues shown from an honest and vulnerable perspective, this movie is an incredible testimony to the power of humility and God's love flowing through those who surrender to Him. Absolutely a MUST SEE for everyone over 13—small children may have trouble with the heated conversations and mild peril. There is nothing in this movie that is offensive. The acting is superb and Kirk Cameron really gets the message across as to what is going on inside his soul throughout the entire movie. The main focus and theme of the movie is never abandoned and the viewer is taken right through the journey from beginning to end. Nothing is sacrificed in the plot for the sake of sensationalism and thanks be to God, the Truth of the Gospel is never compromised either. What a beautiful message of hope!

GO SEE THIS MOVIE AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO GO ALSO. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Positive—I love love love this movie. I very much appreciate the chance Kirk Cameron took to do a movie that would get the gospel to non-believers. I couldn't believe I was in a regular movie theater at 8 o'clock on a Friday night seeing such a wholesome movie with a wonderful message. It seemed I would only see something like that in my own living room. I hope many people see this movie. What a great way to get people thinking about God.

Positive—I had eagerly been awaiting this film as soon as I heard it was going to be made. I loved Facing the Giants and Flywheel, so I was expecting great things from this movie! I wasn't disappointed in any way. Fireproof has excitement, comedic scenes, and also touching scenes. There was nothing objectionable in the film, and I think anyone of any age can or should see this. Young ones might be bored, but otherwise I don't see any reason why anyone can't see it. The “Love Dare” is something I think we should all apply to those we love, not just those who are married to one another. I know I can use it with my brothers and sisters, and it would made a definite difference in our relationships and attitudes towards one another. I can't wait to own this on DVD!

Positive—Any couple (married, engaged or just dating) would make a huge investment in their relationship by viewing this movie. My wife and I both cried, and laughed and cheered; and at the end… the audience gave a huge round of applause. If your relationship with your spouse or significant other isn't where it should be, this movie is worth many hours in front of a marriage counselor. If you have married children or grandchildren, encourage them to go see it. And if they don't, buy them a DVD of Fireproof for Christmas and then buy yourself a copy and play it to your family during the holidays. The very marriage this movie could save could be your own or one of children's… what a blessing that would be!

Positive—I've seen this movie twice in theaters, and I plan to see it many more times. This is a GREAT movie about a couple who has a struggling marriage, and the husband gets a book that takes him on a 40-day journey of loving/serving his wife and restoring their marriage. This is a great movie created by the people who filmed “Facing the Giants” and “Flywheel.” I think this is one of their bests, it's awesome! Erin Bethea is a newcomer in the movies, and I honestly thinks she really needs to pursue more roles. She's an awesome actress, and Kirk Cameron did a good job too. I say, go see this movie with your whole family. Bring a couple friends with you too. Really support this movie so this church can make other movies like this. I'm planning on seeing it over and over again until it comes out on DVD. And when that day comes, the only thing I can do it by the DVD and add it to my collection! :)

Positive—At first I was caught up in the unconvincing acting and the lack of smooth transitions between scenes. It wasn't too long before I started getting into the plot, and looking past those shallow elements. I really fell in love with the story and even the delivery of the message. It made me take notice and appreciate my marriage more. This is a great tool for any couple. By the time I went home I had already sent a text message to recommend it to two other people. I will definitely buy this on video and may even see it again in the cinema.

Positive—My wife and I never go to movies due to the cussing, etc on most movies. This movie was great to go on a date with my wife. I enjoyed the buttery popcorn however more than that I was reminded to love my wife as Christ loves me. I saw sacrifice, etc. Great film. I had to fight back the tears. I would definitely recommend this film. The film shows the plan of salvation. Also, it is intense and keeps the action coming.

Positive—Go see this movie! The reason I say that is because, it is just the kind of movie we need for this day and age. There is no foul language. Not even God's name is taken in vain. The only thing suggestive is the main character's wife starts to hang out with a doctor (a very interesting twist in the movie.) I will not say more because you should see this movie for yourself.

It focuses on friendships as well as married life. It teaches and focuses on how relationships can effect you, even the friends you have.

I will admit the acting was decent and it more of a Hallmark film tone to it, but a very well made Hallmark film. My sister disagrees. She thought it was on par with a very well made Indie film. The best actor in the whole movie was Kirk Cameron. I had only known him for his role in the sitcom “Kirk” and for his role in the “Left Behind” series. In both he acts very well. This movie proves he it. I was very impressed.

Go see this movie, and if you only like boxoffice smashes, at least buy a ticket to support it. It is worth the price of one, or my case, three tickets.

Positive—I seen this movie with my 16 year old daughter and we didn't want to leave when it was over. We couldn't stop crying.

I divorced my wife in 1996, and I think this movie would have been a better counselor to married couples going down the road to divorce then what is out there now. I wish I would have had this to help me with my crumbling marriage. God moved in the writers and film makers who had their hands and especially their hearts in the making of this film. Thank you for giving me hope in my everyday life.

Positive—What a movie. Kirk Cameron’s character literally slapped me in the face so many times my face was flush for a few days. (Ok, it was the Holy Spirit jumping on my toes really hard.) My wife and I have never had such a wonderful time in a movie theater. I was told to bring a lot of tissues to the movie, and my advisor wasn't wrong. Thank you to everyone involved in the making of the film. You Helped save a marriage that was going down a path it should never go.

Positive—Like nearly everyone else who has commented, I liked this better than any movie I've seen in the theatre for some time. I took my 17-year-old son who wasn't really enthusiastic about going, and he ended up enjoying this just as much as I did. In a society which boasts a 50% divorce rate, a movie that encourages the care and upkeep of marriage based on love and commitment towards each other and God is not only refreshing but necessary. The only thing I would have liked to see stressed a little more clearly was that the wife's relationship with her new “friend” nearly led her into adultery which would have been as sinful as her husband's neglect and preference for ungodly things online. I'll be buying this one to watch again and to try to get others to see it.

Positive—Before I became a Christian, I watched 18 of 20 movies on the marquee. Now, maybe 1 of 40 movies. I only allow christian or inspiring movies in my house with 2 young children. We own no tv. I haven't owned one for 15 years. Bible says be careful what you see and hear. I am. I don't listen to the radio as the commercials are horrible most of the time. All that said, this is one of the best movies I have seen! Kirk did a great job at being real and authentic. The angry was well portrayed. I could sense how she felt being on the receiving end. I was affected myself. Very authentic and genuine. I have since got the book and am on day 4. It has made a difference. We didn't have our relationship on the rocks, but I wanted to try the book anyway. I think we all need to pray more and fast more to get in line with God. Nice to see such great meaningful movies with the creators and actors of these films.

Positive—Awesome movie, I have to admit I thought it might be corny; I am a born again Christian, but my Husband is not (yet). I watched the movie by myself, first, and we are going to watch it together this weekend. I don't think they could have done a better job, in any area of this movie. God can change any heart when we let Him, and He can Breath His Life into anyone's marriage and Save them and it, and renew it.

This movie touch me so much, because I was losing my marriage after 3 years, and I got down on my knees and cried out to the Lord, just as portrayed in the movie, and The Lord worked on me, and I am happy to say I have been married ever since to the same person for 17 years, Praise the Lord, it was all Him. I am telling everyone I know to buy this Movie! So many people just give up, there is always hope. All things are possible with God.

Positive—My husband and I think that this movie should be seen by all couples: married, engaged, and those who are dating. The movie has the power (from God!) to save many marriages. It teaches couples, in an effective way, God's plan for how He wants husbands and wives to treat each other and to put Him first in their lives.

It is our prayer that this movie is seen by many, many people. Yes indeed, we owe our thanks to the filmmakers… you've made another winner… just like “Flywheel” and “Facing the Giants.” May there be many more to come! God Bless You!

Positive—I thought that the movie was really good! Definitely the best well done christian movie I have seen. Though as a christian I do not want to be too biased. Although I think that the acting was pretty decent given that the actors were non professionals, and that the story was put together well with a God-centered message. I felt that they could have centered more on the gospel, and went into more detail about salvation and Christ's substitutionary death on the cross. Also I thought that they didn't major enough on the main character's salvation.

I think it would have been better if after his dad had shared the gospel with him, that they would have shown him going through a short process before he actually believed in Christ and was converted. Not to say that salvation cannot happen the way it did in the movie, I just think that the way they did it just portrays to much the modern day evangelistic style of presenting salvation. But, at least, they didn't water down the message, I just think they could have presented it better and went into more detail about sin and repentance. However, overall, I really liked it, mainly for the same reasons everyone else did.

Positive—I have to wholeheartedly agree with the review in that this film depicts sin just enough that we know what it is, but it doesn't push filth in our faces and it IS very well/tastefully done-for that I am very grateful! :)

All in all this film is good, the moviemaking quality is what is to be expected from a Christian movie and the acting is decent enough… I must say that Kirk Cameron suprised me in a positive way. He was believable and real. The situations in this movie were something that I'm glad the film makers adressed because in our day they are all too common and again, done in a tasteful way.

I do recommend this movie because if nothing else, it's clean and did go pretty quickly (especially considering it is nearly 2 hours long).

Positive—We loved this movie! It was realistic and heartwarming and had some really funny moments. We watched it with our 3 year old in the room, and he was a little upset about the fighting—and especially when he totally loses it in his wife's face. I think it was a phenomenal accomplishment done by a church, and that it absolutely will be a powerful tool for the kingdom.

Surely, soon we will see someone has come out with a real Love Dare for people in struggling marriages. Do I think this is something that will replace marriage counselors, no. But I do think it could work for people who are against coming to a complete stranger with their most intimate problems—and better they do something, then nothing and let their marriage fail!

So, I think this movie ROCKED!!!

Positive—This movie is VERY uplifting, and encouraging to watch as a married couple. And while Kirk Cameron does a decent job, let's face it—the rest of the movie is pretty terrible. The acting is almost embarassingly bad, and the “comic relief” scenes are out of place and not at all funny.

I would still recommend the movie, because the storyline is real, and just about any married couple could relate to one aspect or another of the problems the couple in the movie deals with. But, unfortunately, the quality of the acting and sub-storylines are very poor.

Positive—AMAZING!!! TRULY AMAZING!!! There is so much to learn from this film. It is so true that every relationship encounters times of difficulty. This movie shows exactly what it takes to make it through the fire. I, like one of the characters in this film, have a scar on my heart from a previous marriage. But I know with God's forgiveness, I can still be a good man and even better husband. After watching his film I really began to look at myself and how I live my life. It has really brought to light many things in my life I had decided not to look at for one reason or another.

For those who think this movie is preachy… darn straight. EVERYONE needs to be preached to from time to time. Nobody's perfect. If you have friends who you think would be turned off by the preaching, just ask them to watch it with you as a friend and let God deal with their heart. It is not for us to have the power to change a person's heart; that power belongs to God. It is our job to guide others to God so he can do his work. However, I didn't think this movie was preachy at all. It was a glimpse of what all marriages face, and it's marital suicide to thing your marriage is above these problems.

Please, if you haven't seen it, watch it as soon as you can. The lessons are not for just married people, but also for anyone who plans to ever get married.

And to all men who read this, be sure that if you only take one thing with you from this movie, take the understanding that God has commanded HUSBANDS to love their wives. They are commanded to submit to our leadership, not our dictatorship. I realize that I did not follow God's plan in the past and it cost me dearly. Learn from this movie and my mistakes. Learn all you can.

Positive—The film a bit grainy. I rated it excellent because it was based on scripture and was a truly Christian film which promoted Christian values in a worldly workplace where the idea is usually “all about me.” Excellent movie for the married, engaged, or those thinking of dating. Also for revival of dead marriages and parental healing.

Positive—As a soldier in the U.S. Army, deployed to Afghanistan, I have found time to watch this movie over and over again! I am single, but I was still able to get so much out of it. It makes me realize how important it is to wait for the Lord to show you the plan He has for you, and trust Him. I know that He has someone for me someday, and if I just wait patiently, and continue to serve Him, things will all fall into place.

I have lent this movie out to sooooo many people. Especially the married spouses who are away from home, and might be having their own marriage problems, this is definitely an awesome way to start witnessing.

Positive—I had been wanting to see this movie since I first heard about it. So, when it came to DVD, I bought a copy. I got home, watched it, and absolutely LOVED IT!!!… The performances were uniformally strong. I especially enjoyed the two leads, Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea. Also of note was a man named Ken Bevel, as one of Caleb's co-workers, who encourages him to continue to work on his marriage, no matter how tough the fight may be. Another thing I really found refreshing was the amount of humor that I found in here. I think I spent as much time laughing as I did either on the edge of my seat, or close to tears.

I am a man that, while unmarried myself, has seen my fair share of marriages break up. I wish I could take this film to each of those couples and say, “If you would have only put the situation in God's hands, you would still be together today.” In short, this is a movie that everyone in America, regardless of marital status, simply MUST see.

Positive—I would suggest that all couples watch this movie together. My husband and I watched this together. It is a great story about how when you put your faith in God and when you do things for God and not just for your own selfishness, that your life will change for the good. I didn't read any reviews on the movie before I watched it. There was a part in the movie that shows the main character is obviously looking at other women on the Internet, and his wife even hints this to her mother when she states that she used to be enough for him. I wished that part weren't in the film, but I guess it does show that each of us has our own struggle and that you can overcome doing what is wrong if you put your heart into it and trust God. I think if everyone followed what the characters did in this movie to make their marriage work then we would all have some good marriages.

Positive—Oh my goodness! It was so amazing, comfortable, and relaxing to see a movie such as this one. It seems like the only movies ever to come out are completely off base with God's word and not appropriate for a follower of Christ to watch. But seeing this one brought a sense of joy. Not only because it was God centered, but because of the way the couple handled their marriage and more importantly, how they found salvation through Jesus Christ. And may I add, what a great dad that young man had (Caleb). To offer the advice he did, stick by his sons side, and lead him to the cross showed an excellent role model of a dad! I enjoyed this movie very much and would recommend it to anybody out there! Some may ask, “Why? Just because it's God centered?” Exactly! Because God should and needs to be the center of everybody's life! Could this movie in itself save somebody's life/marriage? No, BUT the power and love of God can and He can most definitely use this movie as one of His tools. It's only all through Jesus Christ! I'm not married and I'm pretty sure I stand far from being married quite yet, but I will say that I do have a loving relationship with Jesus Christ and after watching this movie, it made me want to just grow in my walk with God and draw closer in a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. Because if you think about it, we are God's bride and He should be first in our lives. We should be working on our relationship with Him always! Just like a husband and a wife should. Thumbs up to this movie and all who were apart in making it. God bless everyone!

Neutral
Neutral—I have to say that upon my first viewing of this film, I was not impressed. Then I watched it again, and tried to put my criticisms aside. This is an admirable film. I admire the filmmakers for putting it together and distributing it all on their own. That is not easy, and as a film student who wants to work in this industry, I have to give them kudos. I also have to say that Kirk Cameron wasn't bad at all. His performance was stronger than you might suspect. The volunteer actors were a bit weak… but they were volunteers, and so I guess I can't be too hard on them. The message of the film was clear. The problem that I had with the film was that it may have been TOO clear.

If there is one thing that the film lacks in abundance, it is subtlety. Too often in the film, the action is halted for the sake of preaching a message. Not that the message is a bad one. It's all in the presentation of that message. Most of my non-Christian friends were put off from this film because they felt as if a message was repeatedly being crammed down their throats. Most of the Christian film buffs that I know feel the same way that I do. In a way, you are preaching to the choir. You're not telling us anything that we don't already know. This would be my only criticism, aside from a few technical nit-picky things. Other than that, this a major improvement over FACING THE GIANTS, and I applaud the filmmakers for their efforts, and I look forward to their future projects.

Adam Renkovish, age 26 (USA)

Positive—I mainly wanted to respond to Adam Renkovish’s and Tony’s reviews. First off (pertaining to Adam's), saying that in order for a film to be more effective for the gospel it needs to be more “subtle” is a lie straight from Satan. Again and again the bible says that people are saved through the preaching of the gospel. Of course people are going to be “turned off” by the movie. After all, the Bible calls the cross “an offense” (and the movie also makes mention of this). People don't like to be told that they are wicked sinners whose thoughts are only evil continually (Gen. 6:5) (and squishy so-called “Christians” don't like to hear this either). Like the Apostle Paul says… we should preach Christ crucified, and boast only in the cross! I have a lot of atheist/pagan friends who probably won't see this movie. And if the movie was more “subtle” (the cross is NEVER subtle… so that's a contradiction of itself), then my atheist/pagan friends would hear no gospel, and apart from hearing the gospel, they cannot be saved (Romans 10:14). So what am I called to do? Tell them myself! (Mark 16:15)

This movie is also great for reaching Christians who are starving for truth and aren't getting it in their lukewarm churches. I was surprised that they were bold enough to make the comment that we should NOT trust our hearts because it is deceitful (Jer. 17:9). I was also shocked that it was basically teaching that a man should be leading his home.

This leads me to my second response from Tony. So you think it's ridiculous that a woman is like a rose and that she can wilt? Have you not read 1 Peter 3:7? Isaiah 19:16? Jeremiah 51:30? Nahum 3:13? Women are weaker than men. They are more easily deceived (1 Timothy 2:14). Women were also given a different role (1 Cor 11:8-9). They were created as a helper for their husbands (Gen. 2:18). Again and again, the bible makes it clear that ideally, women need to be LOVED AND CARED FOR by their HUSBANDS (Eph. 5:25-33).

Have you not also read the Song of Solomon? Where a wife is clearly compared to a garden that needs to be tended and cared for? Wives need special care, and they tend to close up and harden when they are TRAMPLED ON.

All I know is that in order to have a BIBLICAL marriage, a person must understand that a husband needs to love and lead his wife as Christ does the church (Christ is the head of the Church, and the husband is the head of his wife and family), and a woman needs to respect and submit to her husband just as the church does to Christ. When the church fails to understand this, the family falls apart. When the family falls apart then society falls apart. When society falls apart… well… we're seeing this right now.

As for my own comments on the movie (if it hasn't been covered yet), my only beef with the movie is that I really did not like how they had that giant cross. As New Testament believers, we do not need all these symbols and shadows to worship God. That is an Old Testament thing, and even in the OT, they were only to do as God prescribed. As NT believers… (as Jesus says…) we should worship in spirit and in truth. We should not be using objects as the point of our worship (this could be argued as breaking the 2nd commandment… idolatry). I watched the deleted scenes, and I am very glad that they took out the scene where Kirk Cameron was praying to the cross. It really scared me. We should not pray to objects!!! That is idolatry!!!

I know some of you may think that this is not a big deal, but it is. But I still want to give a positive review because I see this movie as a continual moving toward God reforming His church. His church is not perfect, and she certainly is confused on many issues, but God is definitely doing a work here!

Neutral—As an aspiring filmmaker I despise bad movies. I am a follower of Jesus Christ (I claim no denomination, because Jesus didn't claim one.) But I think you guys are being very biased in your review of this movie. Just because it's a Christian film, doesn't mean it is any good. It had a very K-lovey feel to it and it was almost as bad as Facing The Giants. The plots fit right into the Christian Stereotype, and the acting was horrible. The only good thing about the film was the film/camera work. If you want to be a good witness of Jesus, go to a secular movie and talk to the person sitting next you, who knows? maybe the topic of God will come up. I just think that sitting in church, sitting in a Christian movie, going to a Christian school accomplishes nothing. Rent it when the movie comes out in DVD. Don't waste your money.

Danny Porter, age 19
Neutral—I felt this movie had the criteria which would qualify it as an “Excellent.” Since I am not one who values a movie by its cinematography, I feel this movie deserves a 5, in filmaking. I'm a plot and character development person, myself. Which leads me to this complement. Kirk Cameron must be a shining witness in real life. Why? He could not hide his glow, even when he was playing the “unsaved” Caleb.

However, the plot could have been more powerful, and could have left a lasting impression on peoples hearts. It could have changed even more lives. It really did look like it was preaching to the choir.

Pornography is adultery, if you believe what you read in Matthew 5:27. And if you read further into Matt. 5 you will see that in that particular Gospel, adultery appears to be the only reason for divorce.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, Caleb committed adultery on his wife. The movie only dealt with how she felt devalued by his computer porn. The anti-porn message was not strong enough. Maybe that is why porn has such a foot hold in the Christian community.

We hear over and over again in our believing communities Malachi quoted; “For I , the God of Israel, hates divorce.” What is heartbreaking is that many of God's people have taken that tiny portion of the verse and left behind the important and valuable context that it was taken from. God was speaking very clearly through the prophet Malachi, how a man should not treat his wife of his youth, and how he should not let others treat his wife. Divorce, mentioned , is the probable but hated,by God, impending ramification for such actions.

Divorce-Jesus mentions in the bible-was something God allowed because of the “hardness of your hearts”—Mark 10.

The movie lost the fact that Catherine was broken by the hardness of Caleb's heart while in his sin of adult--er—porn. It totally lost her side of the story, and instead made the biblical “weaker vessel” the equal co-sinner in the plot. The biblical “head of the household” wasn't held near as accountable by the plot nor by the viewers. You can see that by reading these comments.

The anti-divorce message weakened and watered down the message. Had the script called for the Dr. to not be married and to have more integrity, the audience would have seen the urgency for Caleb to wake up and smell the roses. Some people would be shaking in their boots and would be learning a lesson. What if they(audience along with Caleb) wondered to the very end if a godly man was going to replace the husband who indulged in porn, disrespected and verbally abused his wife.

Why couldn't we have had an unsoiled Catherine whose need for a divorce was her way of finding her “corner of the roof from a contentious” husband?

Yeah you get great reviews… from the choir. But from those who might be suffering from similar situations, only their spouse has always been a Christian… you get… huh?

The Christian man who sat down to watch this movie with his wife, might not be motivated to get out of the porn, or to respect his wife better, or get out of his other sins. To him its just a cute movie. With the Dr. being made out to be a creep, his competive edge was not appealed to, and he was not motivated to abandon his sin. Why? His wife will always stay with him.

Has the community become so anti—the symptom-divorce, that it is ignoring the devastating effects of the actual sins that lead up to divorce?

If God's word doesn't sometimes appeal to the competitive nature, than what is the purpose of mentioning Vashti in the story of Esther? Or what is the purpose of the story of Abigail and David. Or what is the purpose of David replacing King Saul, or Naaman becoming a servant of God, and Elisha's servant being punished for greed?

Revise the movie. This time, clean up the doctor's character. Undemonize Catherine, altogether, by delving into her brokenness more. Keep the relationship between the doctor and Catherine blameless so as to not lighten up on Caleb so quickly. Let only the audience wonder if Caleb will be replaced by focusing on the debilitating effects of porn on the “weaker vessel” then. If you are going to deal with porn than deal with it. Don't water its effects down. Its serious stuff. If you are simply going to be anti-divorce then lose the porn, and just keep it to the normal incompatibilities that aren't so devastating, but can lead to divorce.

The anti-divorce message can be achieved, once again by not preaching it but by showing that it can be a harsh ramification for the sin that leads up to it. Let the people themselves, elect for the marriage by rejecting whole-heartedly the sins.

V, age 44 (USA)
Neutral—I saw this film during high-school with my mom and although the film involved important themes (and we could relate to a couple of the family-related matters portrayed), I found a number of the narrative points and representations somewhat frustrating or surprising. While the story's primary moral was positive (as well as gently, but clearly explained), I didn't find that nothing was morally or Biblically questionable.

What first felt questionable were behaviors and portrayals (separate from Caleb, the protagonist mistreating his wife) that seemed portrayed as usual or expected things, and harmless. For example, Caleb and his father looked ready to pray before a cross in one scene (which maybe was intended as a visual representation for Caleb to help him sense God's presence, but seems instead to hinder the idea of praying to Him directly or listening for Him and believing without a human-made object. A couple of scenes showed African-American women in not an overtly negative, but stereotypical light (such as gossiping when seen). The main character calmly, but openly threatens violence on a doctor (who has begun an affair with his wife and also is presently treating his injury) while in the hospital, and he gestures warningly with his hands what he might do to the doctor unless he stays away from her. Although he had a right to be defensive and even tell the doctor off, I do not believe his threat when leaving the building was appropriate, especially since the doctor was not threatening anyone with harm as far as we knew.See all »

Negative
Negative—I am honestly terrified by what I read on these walls. People talking about the value of this movie in saving their marriage and how it replaces hours in front of a marriage counselor. As a man with his own fair share of marital problems I understand the overwhelming need for something to address the difficulties of sharing your life with someone, but these services are not available for $19.99 by Kirk Cameron. Sitting down in front of a screen for 2 hours does not replace the time you could be communicating with your spouse in a significant way. The film made by Christians for Christians, alienates every other human being by it's ridiculous acting and dialogue that is laughable. These low film making qualities distract from any relevant message, even one present in such boring and unapproachable fashion. Christians need help, like anyone else but they need real help from their church family and not some DVD and study guide. The amount of praise this movie recieved shows how many Christians are simply out of touch with the reality of human interaction outside the church. I have been a Christian for 26 years, and I am ashamed that this is the best we can offer hurting people. We should be busy doing the things we do as unto God Himself, not repackaging our propaganda in an irrelevent way. We are only hurting ourselves.

P.S.—My wife and I stayed together through the hard times because we talked to each other like human beings and sought the help of our Pastor, not because I realized she was a rose that would wilt.

Tony, age 33 (USA)

Positive—This is a response to Tony's negative review—to say this is not something that can help people is absurd. Our God is not so small that He always has to part the sea and talk through burning bushes, He, in fact, CAN and often does use our media for His purposes. We need to just give thanks that this movie is clean, has a God centered message when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, and not ascribe to Saul/Pharisee ideology. (I think there is good reason that the vast majority of this film's comments are positive-because the message is God centered and clean.)

Angelica, age 23 (USA)

Negative—I definately noticed that the movie was heavily slanted towards the man being at fault. I was asking many questions during the film, wondering why she wasn’t accountable for her contributions to the failing marriage. But alas, all the man’s changes seemed destined to doom since she seemed to have nothing to change herself. Not only was she was committing adultery, but with a married man (although I don’t think she knew).

Further, while the husband CONFIDED in a close friend about his marriage, the wife blabbed to all of her friends about what a horrible man he was. This, above all else for me, was the most grievous of the sins she committed. Now that they are back together will she tell all those people about how wonderful he is?

While I respect what this film was trying to do, it was too much about the man trying to prove himself to the woman who should have been working on her own failings as well. Instead, she rubuked his attempts at change and even to the credits, failed to even once recognize any of her own issues or ask for forgiveness herself.

The husband had many legitimate gripes that I believe put their wrong doings on equal footing. If only the woman had tried has hard as he did! Her flat refusal of his gestures was mind-boggling. “Let me be perfectly clear: I don't love you anymore” was just one of the many things she did to reject his attempts and holding their marriage together.

I guess as a movie, it was good. But as an example to Christians on how to save your marriage, I remain highly skeptical. I've been married for 14 years to a wonderful woman. We both though some of the same things regarding the slant of this film. I would have liked this film much more if the wife had come to reality about her own issues and asked him and God for forgiveness as he did. I kept expecting her turn to come up and it never did which made no sense to me.

I am grateful that such an overtly Christian film was released, but just couldn't buy into the message that the man was solely at fault.

Positive—Had to add my kudos to an excellent movie that was Christian-oriented and very well done! Both my husband and I had difficulty holding back the tears, even though we've never actually experienced this kind of marriage. It was a testament to the power of God and His ability to change hearts and minds. If only all movies were made with such passion and commitment to Christian morals and principles!

Negative—Alrite, so I want to commend the effort of this movie to present a clean, family-centered film that focuses on Christ's love. But, I just HAD to mention that while it does have a great message, it is simply A HORRIBLY made film, it all starts out in the first seconds by beating the audience over the head with the film's message. The makers of this film must have simply forgotten that subtly makes great movies. Also, the plot, dialogue, and acting are simply unacceptable when compared to the same in other movies. Don't get me wrong I love what the film is doing, and I love Christ with all my heart, but the movie simply has WAY too many flaws to ignore. Also, it totally allienates non-christians. And, it is telling the audience that all life's problems go away, which isnt true. A true relationship with Jesus is just that a relationship complete with highs AND lows.

All in all, the film is a cute, cookie-cutter christian film, but it isnt worth movie tickets, possibly a rental, but that is it.

Negative—After seeing this movie and then reading the reviews here (as well as from other similar websites), it left me wondering if I really saw the same movie. As much as I truly wanted this movie to live up to the glowing reviews, it turned out to be a disappointment.

I think it failed on several levels. The dialog was awful and riddled with clichés, the characters were unrealistic, it was a very predictable paint-by-numbers plot, and the direction and acting was substandard. The bright spot was some good cinematography.

I felt the key trouble spots was the main character (one of the nicest ‘bad husbands’ I’ve ever seen), a wife that should have shared more fault for the marriage problems than she did, an unconvincing firehouse environment (straight out of a Brady Bunch episode), and a father that might as well have been the pastor of the local church. It all came together with a neatly wrapped happily ever after ending. I’ve seen my share of troubled Christian marriages and they're usually a lot messier than what I saw in this movie.

There was also the 10,000 pound come-to-Jesus anvil that was dropped on our heads halfway through the movie, which left me lamenting over yet another Christian movie that preached to the choir.

Production standards these days are high and I think this movie failed to measure up. If we as Christians want to produce movies that will make an impact on the culture we live in, then I’m afraid we need to do much better than this.

Negative—While the production values were better than most low-budget films, there were so many flaws that made this hard to watch. I had no sympathy for Caleb, the insensitive jerk of a husband or his wimpy wife, Catherine, who allowed him to get up in her face and yell at her too much. I thought married couples were not supposed to air their dirty laundry to everyone. Yet Caleb and Catherine were running off their mouths to their friends. Plus, Caleb was constantly running to his dad like he was a little boy instead of the grown man he should have been. I also didn't like how Caleb appeared to dislike the fact that his wife worked, even though her salary was helping to run the house. The scene between Caleb and Gavin would have never gone down like that, not without security guards being involved. Wayne, the comic relief, was highly annoying, not funny. And why have the African-American women be stock stereotypes—neck-rolling, sassy, gossipy? It was too bad that a good message about keeping marriages together was presented in such poor packaging. This predictable movie insulted my intelligence.

Negative—I saw this film at work—my mother brought me the DVD, and during some downtime I checked it out. I clearly saw the message as a positive one, but like all the Christian films I've seen, I don't understand why they can't make a better movie in terms of filmmaking. The acting was horrible and like so many Christian films, they feel the need to have the music so much louder than the vocal tracks. It makes it unnerving to listen to and watch. I found it hard to make it through the end of the movie, but still managed to. Hopefully, one day the Christian Film industry will put out a good movie film that includes both a great story and awesome movie making quality.

Positive—I loved this movie! As an aspiring writer-director, I love a film with a great script—a script with complex characters, a script with many interweaving plot lines, a script that makes the audience think—a script that stays with the audience long after they leave the theater. “Fireproof” was one of those great scripts! The two main characters were complex and well developed. The audience could easily identify with their pain and struggles, but also wanted to root for them to work out their problems. I also loved the strong, bold Christian message. The filmmakers were unashamed in professing their Christian beliefs and morals in this film and I strongly commend them for this. I have seen all of the films by this church and each one gets exponentially better than the previous one. I found the acting to be very good as well. Kirk Cameron did an excellent job with his role portraying the intense internal struggle over deciding whether or not to proceed with a divorce. Erin Bethea also did a very good job with her character. Though she had some “cheesy” moments, for the most part I found her portrayal of her character believable. The supporting actors were pretty terrible and hokey, but the message in this movie is too powerful to let that discourage you from sitting through the whole film. I've already heard of marriages being saved through people going to see this movie. In addition, the overall film quality was much improved in this film compared to “Facing the Giants.” In conclusion, I strongly urge people to take their families to see this movie. Encourage the work that this church is doing through film!

Positive—How could I label it anything but Positive? It was so great! I'm not really into romance movies normally (I prefer adventure, thrilling, shoot-em-up movies, lol) but I really enjoyed this movie! It was funny, exciting at a few times, sweet, romantic, horribly sad at parts (had me almost in tears!), and had a remarkable ending! I love how they keep the movie centered on God and truly show that He is the only way to a true Christian marital life. The acting was a bit lame and corney at some parts, but Kirk did a fabulous job as usual. I must admit I had panicked when we left the theater after Kirk kissed his “wife” because I remember reading about something Kirk said a few years ago of how he only wants to kiss his wife. Then I found out he never kissed the woman on the movie (yikes, I can't remember her name) but his actual wife! I thought that was so sweet. A great movie and a must-buy! Along with the book Love Dare. Depending on the child, it might be a 10 and up for those two “exciting” scenes. For me, when I was younger, since I had a serious fear of fire, I probably would have been scared to death of it. But it totally depends on the child. Enjoy the movie!!!

Positive—My family and I went to see this movie today, and I don't think I can recommend it highly enough! What a delight to have such an uplifting, moral film make it to theaters! There is nothing objectionable at all, it clearly presents the gospel, and it has a refreshing theme of restoration in Christ. Please support this movie!!!

Positive—AWESOME!!!… A must see for any Christian and will be a great tool for bringing marriages together and the lost to the LORD. I went to see it with my church and everyone absolutely loved it. I would encourage everyone to see it and bring your friends; lets keep this movie in theaters! The lessons learned in this movie are applicable to everyone: love is not simply a feeling and can only come from the Father; lead your heart, don't follow it, for it will lead you astray; never leave your partner.

Positive—We had known about “Fireproof” for several months, and we, being big fans of Alex Kendrick’s movie “Facing the Giants,” were eager to support it on its opening night. We all loved it! For one thing, the acting was brought up several notches from “Facing the Giants.” Kirk Cameron was incredible! The storyline was interesting and engaging. And very humorous moments were scattered plentifully amongst the two hours of screen time.

Violence is minimal. Caleb crawls through a burning house to save a young girl, Two cars get wrecked while drag racing, leaving one girl in bad condition. A small trace of blood can be found on her nose. To make things all the more tense, the care with the two girls in it lies on some train tracks, with a train approaching, and one of the fireman is inches away from getting hit by it. The scene at the beginning shows a disturbing argument between Caleb and Katherine. And throughout Caleb is shown one three occasions taking a baseball bat to a few of his possessions in a failed attempt to vent his rage. At the end, Caleb takes a baseball bat to his computer, the source of his internet pornography addiction.

I completely recommend this movie for EVERYONE. No matter what faith, or age. This is a movie that needs to be watched. This movie seriously made me cry, and I'm a guy, so that says something.

One thing that I feel that most Christians have done is give up on Hollywood. I does seem like a lost cause, but it isn't. An important thing to remember is how powerful God is. He can change the hearts of the hundreds of actors and directors in Hollywood. I personally feel that God is already starting to work in Hollywood, using people like Alex Kendrick as his tools. The battle isn't over, people. It's just beginning. Keep praying.

Positive—This is an amazing movie that I strongly encourage everyone to see. It's one of the best I've seen this year! The movie was well made, clean, and clearly presented two important messages: the importance of Jesus in your life and why marriages are worth saving. You couldn't leave the theater without hearing both—neither message was hidden, but instead told clearly.
The movie was at times funny and exciting, as well as moving. Usually movies don't make me cry, but this one moved me to tears at several points! It kept you interested all the way through. It's worth every penny you spend to see it in theater.
“Fireproof” was even better than I expected, and I'm so glad we went—it's one I'll want to see again on DVD!
Go see this movie—and tell your friends to see it too! Even if you're not the kind of person/family who usually goes to the theater, I'd make this movie one of the occasions where you do—it's well worth it! This is the kind of movie that needs our support—a movie that presents a Christian message and may even save marriages.

Positive—I really enjoyed the movie. It had a nice mix of sad, funny, happy, romantic, Christian content, and many other things. I want to encourage the makers of these movies to keep making more because they are doing a GREAT job.It showed that God is amazing, merciful, he can change a rock hard heart, and that, like the Bible says, he will produce endurance through trials. Positive—I enjoyed fireproof and I encourage the producers to keep making more because I enjoy them a lot, I also encourage everyone to go see it, it was AWESOME. Positive—I saw this movie with one of my friends and then one of her friends. We are all christians and loved this movie. It really hit home for us because one of us are actually going through something like this. Most of the christian movies really are blah… but this movie was terrific. I beg you people go and see it. Support it big time! They need our help to keep them afloat in a world were anything people want to see has sexual content in it. This really focuses on the issues, even in christian relationships. We all need to wake up to this movie and see it. I really highly recommend it to anyone.

Positive—I don't see why anyone would care to read my comments, when there is a beautiful list already available. I pray I'm not wasting your time; only there are some things the Lord has put on my heart to discuss. It breaks my heart to read the negative criticism of this wonderful movie. It's terrible to ridicule the filmmakers’ intentions, saying that this movie is a wrong way to deliver the message of the gospel. The makers weren't trying to create a “marriage saving film,” rather they knew in their hearts that this would be an excellent way to show the world (not just Christians) what God intended marriage to be—something beautiful and unbreakable. Why would you ridicule a marriage being saved, just because the Lord saved it through a motion picture instead of a stepping-stone church program? God is God, and we are not. He has used this movie to save couples from ending their anointed and predestined bonds. Don't be so quick to judge the people whose marriages have been redeemed through this film.

I know it is not a high quality movie, but that doesn't mean it should be thrown out. Don't critique this movie as overly speaking the gospel. We, as believers, have been commanded to speak boldly the message of God's love, “Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day.”—Psalm 96:2.

This was not a movie made only for Christians. The Lord has used it to reach many lost. It was planned on only being released in a few big cities, but actually made it to my little hometown! It received the rating of “#1 Inspirational Movie in America” (this rating was not made by only Christian viewers) and made over $33 million in theaters. Please don't pass-up this beautiful production; it is the perfect example of how God has called us to live; boldly “Shouting” his message. We have been given authority and power to affect every aspect of this world. “Fireproof” takes that authority into the film world, against any criticism and rejection; all for the glory of our God.

Positive—This film was so awesome! It blended the heavy stuff with enough comedy to balance it out. I heard that before the main character got saved that it was really depressing, but I didn't think it was near as depressing as “Facing the Giants” was before things started working out for the coach. Of course I'm not married, so I might not get as much out of it as a married couple, but I thought it was great!

Negative—I have to say that I agree with Danny Porter when he says that people are giving this movie positive reviews just because it is a christian-based movie. That is what the moral rating is for, but as for the actual review, I didn't like this movie at all. I was looking really forward to watching a new movie that actually was centered around God, and with the reviews on this Web site I got really excited about seeing it.

Although it was centered around Jesus which was good, the acting was awful, and because of that, I couldn't really enjoy the movie. Also, I forget who said this, but I would have to agree that some of the messages were overdone.

I saw that somebody else responded to that, and sort of got angry at the person for saying that the messages should have been subtle. I don't think that this Web site should be used as a place for Christians to argue, because then when non-Christians read the messages, they get the stereotypical idea that faith isn't worth looking into because it just gives you more things fight with people about. I'm not saying that either people are wrong, I just think that you should say your own comment, and leave what you think of others’ to yourself… so that's all I'm going to say about that.

I personally think that the cross they had in their field made things harder to take seriously. I loved that this film was trying to get a good message across, but that scene where his dad was talking to him, and then the camera looked at him, and the light was shining on the cross… I thought it was really cheesy, and it sort of made me laugh (which, of course, wasn't the point). Anyways, basically, I wouldn't recommend this film, just because it simply was not good.

Several members of the ministry staff of Christian Answers Team Member Living Waters/Way of the Master went to a sneak preview of “Fireproof” (premiers September 26, 2008). The consensus was universal, this movie is a “slam-dunk.”

Ray Comfort:
“‘Fireproof’ isn't just a wonderful, entertaining, heartwarming, life-changing tear-jerker. It presents a powerful and clear God-honoring gospel message that will make you want to shout for joy. Kirk Cameron’s performance is stunning.”
Emeal “E.Z.” Zwayne, Executive Vice President, Living Waters:
“Simply put, ‘Fireproof’ is a life changer! It powerfully and creatively delivers a timely message to a generation that desperately needs it. It is one of the most inspirational movies I have every seen. I can hardly wait to take my friends to see it!”
Mark Spence, Dean of the School of Biblical Evangelism:
“I loved this movie for the sole reason that it was a breath of fresh air in the midst of the normal Hollywood smog. I've seldom witnessed audiences participating in a film as much as this one. There was crying, laughing, and cheering from the crowd. I have to say, that in an age of super budgeted feature films where most come and go in a couple of weeks after tanking, ‘Fireproof’ outshines and out classes them with this heartfelt homerun.”
