Who is…
Abram
Hebrew; אַבְרָם —transliteration: Abram —meaning: exalted father —occurrences: 61 (in Genesis, Chronicles, Nehemiah)
And Yahweh said to Abram,
“Go forth from your land,
And from your kin
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” —Genesis 12:1-3 LSB
This is the original name of the Hebrew patriarch Abraham. He is one of very few men whose name was specifically changed by God.
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. —Genesis 17:5 NASB
Indeed, he became the great patriarch of all the tribes of Israelites, Saracens, and many Arabic tribes and nations, and of all those who intermarried with them. Many millions of people alive today are his descendants.
Abram (Abraham) is also in a direct lineage line between the 1st Adam and the 2nd Adam, Jesus Christ.
