What is…
“affording” in the Bible
This word appears one time in the King James Version.
That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: —Psalm 144:13 KJV
The word comes from the Middle English aforthen, and the Old English geforthian, meaning “to carry out,” “bringing forth,” “supplying.”
Compare the New King James translation which uses more modern English:
That our barns may be full,
Supplying all kinds of produce;
That our sheep may bring forth thousands
And ten thousands in our fields; —Psalm 144:13 NKJV
