“cabins” in the Bible

This refers to arched vaults or recesses off a passage or room. These were sometimes used for cells for the closer confinement of prisoners.

This old English word appears only in the King James Version in Jeremiah 37:16. The New Revised Standard Version and the New King James Version say “cells”. The International Version says “vaulted cells.”
