Received from Prisons

Chaplain D.B. Newhouse of Avenal, California writes:
"My grateful thanksgiving for your recent donation for our ministry to inmates. How can we ever thank you for your outpouring of gifts in such prompt answer to our plea? Neither can I express how much pleasure it gives me to have you as a partner in this ministry outreach to inmates here at Avenal. You are a most valued resource in helping these men to grasp the meaning of Christian sharing - love translated into action. As chaplain, I always feel a sense of the Lord uplifting me when I am so well undergirded by enthusiastic supporters. I praise God for your willing response. May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you as you extend your help to those in loneliness and distress."
Chaplain Daniel Croce, Massachusetts:
"Thank you so very much for the videos that you sent to the jail! You are so kind and thoughtful! I know the men will appreciate not only the gift of the videos but the content! I preach and teach God's Word and these will only reinforce what God's Word says. Thank you!!!"
A chaplain in Florida writes:
"The help these videos have added to our ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ has immeasurable significance. Lives are dramatically changed from one viewing of these well-produced videos. Our thanks on behalf of the men."
Chaplain John Belken, Arkansas:
"On behalf of the inmates at the North Central Unit, I want to thank you for your recent donation to this ministry. Your assistance opens the way for us to share the gospel with the incarcerated. It also lets the inmates see that the churches on the outside do care and have not forgotten them."
Another chaplain writes:
"We are very grateful…Using the videos, Sunday morning we had 30 in attendance in our chapel Bible study and Sunday night 79. We had 47 professions of faith! We are a big mission field…"
Ouachita Correctional Center, Oklahoma:
"At least 14 men have come to Christ because of these films."
Changed Lives!

The Public School Teacher

"One of the men that signed up for the [Bible] studies was an ex-teacher from a local high school" wrote one chaplain recently. "He had expressed an interest in the religious aspect of our programs on the advice of his attorney. (Those attending programs have it noted on their court survey information.) He was very defensive during the first two-week studies and somewhat argumentative but generally disapproving whenever the Deity of Jesus or other central themes of the Gospel were introduced.

The week I announced that we would be showing the film on evolution, I could see that he was eager to be in familiar territory and was first in line to find a seat. After the showing, I noticed a different side to him. Somber and taciturn. One of the other inmates said that he mentioned that he 'didn't know some of this stuff,' during the tape. Two weeks later, in a private counseling session, he asked me to help him give his life to the Lord.

His case was resolved with a hung jury and plea bargaining for time served and was nearly as good as being found innocent. His last day in jail, he thanked me for helping him to see the truth, that he would never have found Christ on the street. I asked him if evolution was a part of his resistance to being saved, and he said, 'How can you accept the need for a Savior when you can't believe in evolution and God at the same time? Without God, sin is a false concept, and without sin, who needs to be saved?'"

The Satanist

Not only was “Victor” a skeptic - he was a Satanist. The prison chaplain knew he was probably at the Bible class to cause trouble but was glad to see him anyway. Chaplain S. was showing Films for Christ's eye-opening Creation evidence videos. He could see that the message was really getting through to these men - men that society has rejected but whom God loves and is calling! Some were visibly angry at the public school systems, which had so badly misled them on these foundational issues. Quizzing the prisoners after each showing, Chaplain S. was surprised to find how much they retained. He was even more amazed to later hear that Victor, the Satanist, is now arguing with others in his cell block in support of Creation. "He continues to come, and I think I see a wall beginning to crack."

The Rich Young Skeptic

“Scott,” another inmate unlikely to attend a showing of a religious videotape, astonished Chaplain M. by attending his Films for Christ showings. Scott was from a well-to-do background and had not been shy about telling others of his skeptical views about God. Since viewing the series, he has made "a complete turn around and found Christ," Chaplain M. happily reports.

Chaplain Dennis Holmes, ID State Corrections Inst., Idaho:
"We have a closed-circuit TV system at our institution that allows us to send programming to all inmates with TVs in their cells. ALL the videos have been well received. Our baby Christians have accepted evolution as fact for so many years that they try to incorporate it into their new Christian beliefs. These videos remove many mind blocks. God bless you."
From an inmate in Reinsville, North Carolina:
"Thank you for reaching out as you did to us. So many 'outside' feel that those in prison are best forgotten - but your faithfulness to reach out to those in prison will bear much fruit."
Chaplain Donald Stine, Natural Bridge Learning Center, Virginia
"The 'creation-evolution' films have really opened the eyes of some of the boys here to the real unanswered questions about the theory of evolution. Some have never heard a doubtful question about the theory of evolution before and you can actually see eyes light up when the other side of the story is presented."
A chaplain in Florida writes:
"The help these videos have added to our ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ has immeasurable significance. Lives are dramatically changed from one viewing of these well-produced videos. Our thanks on behalf of the men."
At the correctional institution in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the chaplain related:
"I find the videos to be a very positive tool in instruction, especially to many of the younger, more skeptical men. They leave with questions and come back later to me asking me more about the topics discussed in the videos. The interaction and positive growth are encouraging."
Chaplain Gerald Williams, Avoyelles Correctional Center, Louisiana,
"Thanks so much for caring enough to share. Please express our appreciation to all donors responsible for the gift. Your generosity will make it possible for the inmates… to experience the life-changing influence of God's work."
Chaplain DeHorney, Ouachita Corrections Center, OK:
"These tapes have helped me to draw and keep men into the chapel program that I would not have been able to reach in other ways."
