Ephraim in the wilderness

This was a town to which our Lord retired with his disciples after he had raised Lazarus, and when the priests were conspiring against him.

Therefore Jesus no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples. —John 11:54 NASB

It lay in the wild, uncultivated hill-country to the northeast of Jerusalem, between the central towns and the Jordan valley.
