What is…
Gergesa

Hebrew: גרש‬

also known as Geresa, Gerasa, Jerash, Jaresh, Greek: Gadara

The people of Gergesa are called “Gergasenes.”

The people of Gadara are called “Gadarenes.”

This was probably the scene of the miracle demoniac exorcism and the mass pig drowning described in Mark 5:1-20; Matt. 8:28-34; Luke 8:26-39.

More specifically, it may have taken place at the large harbor of Gadara (Gergesa) at the Sea of Galilee.
