Beth-Anath

Hebrew: בֵּית עֲנָת —transliteration: Beth-Anath —meaning: “house/temple of Anath” (aka Anat, a Canaanite goddess) —occurrences: 3 (Joshua 19:38; Judges 1:33)

This fortified Canaanite city became one of the fenced cities of Naphtali (Joshua 19:38).

Israel failed to drive out Beth-Anath’s Canaanite inhabitants as directed by God.

Naphtali did not dispossess the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh or the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath became forced labor for them. —Judges 1:33

It is perhaps identical with the modern village 'Ainata (aka 'Ainatha), 6 miles west of Kedesh, or a similar site in northern Galilee.
