Ellasar

Hebrew: אֶלָּסָר —transliteration: Ellasar —possible meanings: the oak or heap of Assyria

Ellasar is a territory of which Arioch was king (Genesis 14:1; 14:9).

Its location is uncertain.

Some suppose that the old Chaldean town of Larsa was the metropolis of this kingdom, situated nearly halfway between Ur (now Mugheir) and Erech, on the left bank of the Euphrates River. This town is represented by the ruins of Tell as-Senkereh / Sankarah in Iraq, a little to the east of Erech.
