Tabernacle of Testimony
also known as: The Tent of the Testimony
The holy tabernacle, the great glory of which was that it contained the ark of the Covenant which held “the testimony” (the “two tablets” on which were written the 10 Commandments) given to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai.
These are the things numbered for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony, as they were numbered according to the command of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. —Exodus 38:21 LSB
In the book of Exodus, the ark in which these tablets were deposited was called the “ark of the testimony”, and also simply “the testimony” (30:6).
You shall place the ark of the testimony there, and you shall screen the ark with the veil. —Exodus 40:3
In the tent of meeting, outside the veil which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall keep it in order from evening to morning before Yahweh; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout their generations for the sons of Israel. —Exodus 27:21 LSB
You shall put this altar in front of the veil that is near the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you. —Exodus 30:6
