WOW! “Midtown Madness 2” is one of the BEST racing/driving games ever! MM2's gameplay is excellent. Make a selection from about 25 cars, choose to race in either San Francisco or London, and off you go!

Screenshot from MM2

There are SIX modes to choose from: Cruise, Blitz, Checkpoint, Circuit, Multiplayer, and Crash Course.

In Cruise mode, you can drive for an unlimited amount of time; you can race the clock in Blitz; do a Checkpoint race; race in a Circuit; race other people on the Internet in Multiplayer; and learn to be a stunt car driver or a London cabbie in Crash Course.

Microsoft did an excellent job detailing the numerous cars that you drive. For example, the in-game version of the new VW Bug looks just like the real thing.

There is no objectional language, sexual situations, or occult overtones in "MM2".

I highly suggest a fast computer to run "MM2". I'm running a K6-2 (similar to a Pentium II) at 500 Mhz, with 128MB RAM, and a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP 64MB video card, and the game is still choppy.

Overall a great racing/driving game! If you want to download a free demo, you can go to pcgameworld.com/gamedemos/m/midtownmadness2/index.htm (Just highlight the address above, right-click, copy. Now go to your browser's address bar, right-click, paste, and press enter.)

For those who just want to cruise in San Francisco or London and do some racing, I highly recommend picking up a copy of "MM2".

4 of 5 stars overall.

This game is awesome. It is one of my favorite games. I like being able to explore the cities and go wherever you want to go. I would recommend it to anyone. My Ratings: [5/5]

What exactly did the reviewer find “slightly offensive” about this game? There is no blood, guts, or gore, no profanity that I could detect, no sexual innuendos, no “occult imagery,” etc or what these reviews usually point out as being offensive in games. I guess if you want to get down to it, the most fun I ever had with this game was playing “Cruise” Mode and simply going nuts… see how many cops you can get to wreck (or push them into the water), and how much mayhem in traffic you can cause. Of course the point in this mode is just to “drive around” and you can't wreck anyone but the cop cars (which smoke and their tires fall off, with windows shattered) or other player cars, nor can you run over people (as in Carmaggedon games), who simply dodge out of the way. The only thing about this game is that it doesn't let you play with “traffic” in multiplayer modes (the best you can do is pedestrians and some parked cars, using mods). This would have been a great feature. Cooperative modes and multiplayer cruise with full traffic would have really made the game fun. Also the addition of more cities to race in would have been nice. The ones included are large, but once you memorize the layout, you eventually do and see everything. That you also can't wreck the AI traffic cars is also kind of disappointing. It should have been included at least as an option. I like how the cars try to obey normal traffic rules on their own. However, there are a few people who sit at the green light and don't ever turn, and the cops sometimes ram you for no good reason, which just lends to virtual road rage (which isn't a bad thing in this context). There are tons of user created car models you can download off of the internet, which is really great (I have a whole CD's worth on my hard drive). I guess you could say it might glorify aggressive driving, but that's about every racing game ever made. MM2 is pretty fun, but just to mess around. ; ) My Ratings: [5/4]

This is an EXCELLENT racing game which I was very addicted to when I first bought it. I don't play it much now because my computer is too slow to play it. It runs just fine on my friend's Athlon system. There's no violence except for car smashing and light poles falling when you hit them. If you try and run over people, they scream and jump out of the way. The only thing I find remotely offensive is the rainbow flags in certain places in the San Francisco segment. (The rainbow is used as a symbol for homosexuality)… My Ratings: [4/5]
