The nefarious and evil Carmen San Diego and her gang of evil villains are on the loose, causing mayhem and trouble in some spot on the Earth. You are a new recruit in a detective agency. Your assignment—should you choose to accept it—is to find Carmen San Diego and her minions, stop them and send them to jail before further damage is done. Knowledge of geography and an ability to understand clues will help you discover which of Carmen's bad guys you're chasing and where the bad guy can be located.

This is a fun way of learning world geography. Game-players hear little informative and musical tidbits as they pursue Carmen but since they're playing detective they don't realize all the learning that is taking place. When ordered from the developers, the game comes with a World almanac. While playing this game, some children might have one hand on the computer mouse while the other hand peruses the almanac.

Other game-players might just shanghai a poor parent with a question about China. So, if a parent doesn't want to look like a turkey, he or she had better have a quick answer for "Where is the city of Istanbul located?"

There is also a version for younger kids called "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego, JR?" And a version that deals with American geography and culture called "Where in America is Carmen San Diego?" There is also an historical version called "Where in Time is Carmen San Diego?" Carmen sure gets around.

Year of Release—1992
