This is the name of a son of Barzillai, the Meholathite, to whom King Saul gave in marriage his daughter Merab.
So it came about at the time when Merab, Saul’s daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite for a wife. —1 Samuel 18:19
The 5 sons that resulted from this marriage were hanged by the Gibeonites (2 Samuel 21:8, 9).
