Meaning: a priest of On / Potiphar פוטיפר‎ is a shortened form of פוטיפרע “Potiphera” in Hebrew.

He lived in Egypt, and his daughter Asenath became Joseph's wife (Gen. 41:45).

He is the maternal grandfather of the Israelite patriarchs Manasseh and Ephraim.
