Sinites
Meaning: an inhabitant of Sin, near Arka (aka Erek) (Genesis 10:17; 1 Chronicles 1:15)
Sinites were a people descended from Canaan, son of Ham (son of Noah), according to Genesis 10:17 and 1 Chronicles 1:15.
Sinites are possibly a people from the northern part of Lebanon where there are various localities with similar names, such as Sinna, Sinum or Sini, and Syn.
Medieval biblical exegete and rabbi Saʿadia ben Yosef Gaon identified the Sinites with the indigenous peoples of Tripoli, in Lebanon.
