"General" is a turn-based strategy game released by NEWGAME Software based in Russia. The game, while designed by Russians, has been transferred into an English version and is available for free download at their site (listed above).

While “General” does not meet up to the graphical standards of the day, it will satisfy the small budget (shall I dare say) hardcore wargamer. The game is lacking in graphics; however it features a very challenging AI and great background music.

The game is a Risk-type game with the addition of science, grain production, population limits, and generals and a Risk-type clone. It may rank among the best.

The game has nothing objectionable to the Christian unless one considers body counts objectionable. Christians can enjoy “General” and play with a pure conscience.

Year of Release—1999
