“Lie. Cheat. Steal. Love.”

Here’s what the distributor says about their film: “A young Muslim thief breaks into the office of a yuppie architect in London, afterwards the architect re-evaluates his life. A series of related events intersects the lives of the two men with a variety of other people in the seedy inner-city area of Kings Cross.

An ensemble drama following contemporary Londoners from a variety of ethnic and class backgrounds whose lives intersect in the seedy inner-city area of Kings Cross. An architect’s dealings with a young thief cause him to re-evaluate his life.

A story about theft, both criminal and emotional, ‘Breaking And Entering’ follows a disparate group of long-term Londoners and new arrivals whose lives intersect in the inner-city area of King’s Cross. When a landscape architect’s (Jude Law) state of the art offices in a seedy part of town are repeatedly burgled, his investigations launch him out of the safety of his familiar world.”

Positive—This movie is really good. I have already watched it twice! It does have some objectionalble material (naked breasts and a little cursing, living toghether without marriage and inappropriate behaviour) but the overall tone of the movie is very positive. Of course it is not for children, children wouldn’t even like it, it will most probably be a bore for a teenager, too. But it is a good movie for adults, exploring issues like staying in a relationship despite difficulties, struggling with depression, forgiveness and second chances. The characters are very deep, they all make you sympathize, and you can’t really be angry with any of them, despite their sometimes foolish and weak actions. There are also some very interesting things said in the movie about community architecture!

Jude Low plays very well again, as do both Robin Right Penn and Juliette BinocheDr. Ouelet
. Music score by Gabriel Jared (“Message in a Bottle,” also starring Right Penn), very good camerawork and interesting editing. Good ol' British English and authentically sounding East European and Swedish accents. Well done, Mr. Minghella! Thanks for a good movie!
