Frequently Asked Questions about Creation Facts Screen Saver VERSION 1
Creation Factstm Screen Saver Demo
The download was interrupted or failed, now what do I do?
This problem usually results from an interruption in your Internet connection with your Internet Service Provider (even though your phone line may still be connected - the Internet port may be lost). Or you there may have been an interruption somewhere else between your computer and our server (there are many connections along the way). From past experience, we know that it is highly unlikely that the problem is on our server. Often we have found that the problem is on the visitor’s computer, and they need to reboot, or at least establish a new Internet connection. Whatever the cause, the solution is to try again. Just return to the download page.INSTALLATION - How do I install the screen saver and make it work?
After the download, run the “edendemo.exe” file, then run the resulting “setup.exe”. After that, do the usual for running any screen saver…FINDING THE FILE - I downloaded the file, but now I can’t find it?In Windows95 and 98, go to WINDOWS “START” - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - DISPLAY - SCREEN SAVER. Make sure our screen saver is chosen from the drop-down list on this menu.
If you want to use the password protection or music, then click on the “SETTINGS” button. Our screen saver setting window should then appear. Click on the button-icon that looks like a key for passwords — the music symbol for music. After you make your settings in this window, click on our EXIT icon-button and click “Yes” to the save changes question. You are done!
In the process of downloading the file, you browser software asked you where you wanted to put the file. You should have chosen an empty, temporary directory (folder). If you don’t remember where you put the file on your hard disk do the following.REMOVAL - How can I remove the demo from my computer?Use the Windows 95 or 98 FIND feature to search for “edendemo.exe” (START — FIND — FILES OR FOLDERS). Again, the file you are searching for is “edendemo.exe”. If you find it, move it to an empty directory of your choosing. Then run edendemo.exe to uncompress the installation files. Then run the resulting setup.exe. After that is completed, go to START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL — DISPLAY - SCREEN SAVER - SCREEN SAVER (and choose our screen saver from the drop-down list). If you don’t find the file, then it is most likely that you did not download the file, or you need help using the FIND program. Ask a knowledgeable friend for help.
- Delete the directory (folder) “edendemo”. By default it is on the C: drive (unless you installed it elsewhere).
- In your Windows directory, delete two files. Both begin with “eden” followed by four numbers. One ends in “.ini”, the other in “.scr”. (“eden****.ini” and “eden****.scr)
Both the CREATION FACTS SCREEN SAVER DEMO and FULL-VERSION have fully operational password protection — working perfectly under Windows 3.1, WFW and Windows95 and 98. You have full control over whether password protection is enabled or NOT. Once enabled, you can easily disable it.The screen saver started to work, but then it immediately disappeared. What’s wrong?TO ENABLE PASSWORD PROTECTION — Go to WINDOWS95 “START” - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - DISPLAY - SCREEN SAVER. Make sure our screen saver is chosen from the drop-down list on this menu. Then click on the “SETTINGS” button. Our screen saver setting window should then appear. Click on the button-icon that looks like a key. This is where you set the password. After you set the password and are done with this window, click on the EXIT icon-button and click “Yes” to the save changes question. You are done!
TO DISABLE PASSWORD PROTECTION — Simply go to the Screen Saver settings screen described above and follow the same directions. However, when you click on the “key” icon and it asks you for a NEW password, simply press the {ENTER} key. This means there is no password. Then save your settings and password protection will be gone.
Yes, there is more to the screen saver than a quick flash. Screen savers turn off the instant that you move your mouse or depress a key on the keyboard. It sounds like you accidentally moved your mouse at the moment the screen saver was starting. Moving the mouse or touching any key immediately turns all screen savers off. Wait for it to start again. The time delay for restarting can be changed by going to START — SETTINGS — CONTROL PANEL — DISPLAY — SCREEN SAVER — WAIT ___ minutes.MOUSE PROBLEM - Moving the mouse does not turn off the screen saver, what can I do?
It is likely that the Mouse Aware setting has been changed in the screen saver program. Here is how to fix it: To toggle the mouse aware feature to ON in Windows95 or 98, go to START — SETTINGS — CONTROL PANEL — DISPLAY — SCREEN SAVER — (make sure the “Creation Facts(TM) 1” is the screen saver selected) — click on the SETTINGS button — then click on the icon button that looks like a mouse — it should now say “Mouse Aware” in the bottom left corner of the screen saver setup window — to save this setting, click on the icon button that looks like a door and says “exit” — answer YES to the question “Do you want to save changes?”MUSIC - Can I change the music to something new when I get tired of the original music?
Yes, you sure can. Simply find some midi music you like and rename it the same as our midi file(s) and replace it with your own. They must be placed in our screen saver program directory. The demo directory is named “edendemo”. The full-version directory is named “eden-cf1”. We provide other midi music online.MUSIC DOES NOT WORK - This music feature is not working, what can I do?
Be sure that the speakers are turned ON and are properly connected to the computer. To verify that you have a properly installed midi driver, go to the directory “edendemo” or “eden-cf1” and double click on “Sound01.mid”. If this file does NOT play, there is a problem with the sound setup on your computer. Sorry, we can’t help you with that. It has nothing to do with our program. You will need to contact your computer maker, the company that made your soundcard (e.g., Soundblaster), or whoever is involved in the products installed on your computer.Does it work with Windows NT?If the midi file DOES play, but just not when the screen saver is in action, then you have not properly completed the screen saver setup.
In Windows95, go to START — SETTINGS — CONTROL PANEL — DISPLAY — SCREEN SAVER — Select “CreationFacts(TM)1” from the drop down list of screen savers — click on the SETTINGS button — (this should make our “Screensaver Setup” windows appear) — IF it says “Sound Off” at the bottom of that window, click on the icon button that looks like MUSICAL NOTE — (it should now say “Music On” at the bottom of this window) — Now save this setting by clicking on the icon button that looks like a DOOR and says “Exit” — Answer “Yes” to the question “Do you want to save changes?”. The music feature should now work.
Almost, but not fully. You can try the demo if you want, it is identical in function to the full-version. We don’t sell it as being compatible with Windows NT.Does it work with Macintosh, or do you have a Mac version?
No, we do not have a Mac version, and none is planned. Few have asked for it.What are the System Requirements?
They are very simple and standard. Windows operating system (3.1, WFW 3.11, Windows95 or Windows98), NOT Windows NT), 4mb freespace on your harddrive, Color monitor, Super VGA video adapter (SVGA) (256 color or higher), Pictures will display full-screen if your Windows video driver is set to 640x480. If your driver is set for 800x600 or greater, their will be a black border around the pictures. OPTIONAL, if you want to play the music: Soundblaster (or compatible) sound card installed, Windows MIDI driver installed, Speakers. Can I post this screen saver demo on a Web site?
