Bethuel

Meaning: man of God, or virgin of God, or house of God

This is the name of a biblical man and a city.

1. Bethuel, the youngest son of Nahor II by Milcah

   He is a nephew of Abraham, and father of Rebekah (Rebecca) (Genesis 22:22-23; 24:15, 24, 47).

   He appears in person only once.

2. Bethuel, a southern city of Judah

   Now Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters… They lived at Beersheba, Moladah, and Hazar-shual, at Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David. —1 Chronicles 4:27-31

   It is also called Bethul (Joshua 19:4) and Bethel (12:16; 1 Samuel 30:27).
