Hazezon-tamar
also known as: Hazazon-tamar (2 Chronicles 20:2)
Meaning: pruning of the palm
This is the original name of the place afterwards called Engedi.
This ancient city of the Amorites was at first called Hazezon-tamar (Genesis 14:7).
Eventually this city belonged to the Tribe of Judah and was renamed.
A great allied army of Moabites and Ammonites camped at Engedi (Hazezon-tamar, Hazazon-tamar) in preparation to attack the army of King Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:2).
