  • Average = somewhat offensive

  • Very Offensive
  • Extremely Offensive
  • Moviemaking Quality

    5 - Excellent

    3 - Good/Average
    2 - Fair
    1 - Poor

Motion Picture Association (MPA) Rating System

If followers of Christ simply base their movie choices upon the MPA rating system, what mistakes will they likely make?

G—Means: General Audiences—all ages admitted. Does not signify a certificate of approval or a morality rating, nor does it signify a childrens’ film.

PG—Means: Parental Guidance Suggested—some material may not be appropriate for little ones. Again, this is not a morality rating, nor does it indicate that the film is for kids.

PG-13—Means: Parents are advised that some material may be inappropriate for children under 13 (that is, ages 1-12). Again, this is not inherently a morality rating of any kind.

R—Meaning: Restricted—a young person 16 years old or younger requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian for admittance

NC-17—Meaning: Adults only—no one 16 years of age or younger admitted, even if accompanied by an adult

UnRated (NOT rated MPA)—UnRated. Meaning: This film has not been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA). Producers are not under obligation to have the MPA rate their film, and there is a large fee and waiting period involved.
